Cycling trails

Approach Victoria's diverse regions from exceptional perspectives as you cycle in on purpose-built bike trails.

The best things in life on a bike
Exchange knowing nods with passing cyclists as you cruise regional bike tracks and trails. Stumble upon sights unseen from the highways, and fill your basket with gourmet treats from small producers. Sit a while on riverbanks and seashores and generally experience a forgotten idyll.

Tales from the rail trails
Thanks to its network of disused logging railways Victoria leads the way when it comes to developed rail trails. These are gently-graded paths through corridors of bushland, past sheer valleys, beckoning vineyards and abandoned stations. With a decent bike and basic fitness you can travel at your own pace on part of the trail, or take the challenge of a longer ride.

The other side to Melbourne
Melbourne's a seriously bike-friendly city, boasting bike lanes and paths plus a number of trails around the CBD. Travel along the river past bush and billabongs, via major landmarks and always near a pit-stop for refreshments, Melbourne-style.

Other trails
Discover more about other trails around Victoria, including the Red Hill Rail Trail and the Crater to Coast from Camperdown to Timboon. For a definitive list, go to railtrails.org.au.
