What's all the kerfuffle about truffles? Find out first-hand at events and hunts in Melbourne and Victoria.

Australia is one of the top five truffle growing countries in the world, and Melbourne and Victoria has a truffle load of places for you to find them.

Melbourne Truffle Festival launches the season in June with a two-day festival featuring cooking demonstrations, food stalls and meet-and-greets with chefs and truffle hunting dogs at Queen Victoria Market.

As the season gets underway, join tours and truffle hunts throughout June and July at truffieres in Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges, on the Mornington Peninsula and on the Great Ocean Road. Cooking classes are often in the offing too, so stick around afterwards to learn how to transform your black gold into culinary gems.

Or, leave the gumboots at home and follow your own nose around farmers markets and local restaurants during the season.
