Episode 04: 2 March

In this week's episode of Postcards, the team travel all over Victoria to discover some of the best places to eat, drink and stay. Glen heads to the Mornington Peninsula to check out the gorgeous 'Orchard Keepers' property in Red Hill, before heading to Merricks General Wine Store and Merricks House. Brodie is on a Mornington food hunt which finds her enjoying a sophisticated morning tea at High Tea in Paris, a mouth-watering lunch at the eclectic Lilo Café before ending her day at Tutti Frutti ice cream shop. Shane is joined by special guest and Fat Tony & Co. star Madeleine West, who takes him to the glamorous 'Lui Bar' which sits 55 stories above the ground as well as her favourite bookshop – The Hill of Content. They end their day with a trip to Heide Museum of Modern Art tucking into some delicious treats at Café Vue at Heide.

Merricks General Wine Store and Orchard Keepers
Merricks General Wine Store is one of the best places along the Mornington Peninsula to grab breakfast, lunch, and coffee or introduce your taste buds to the area's award winning wines. There is a great selection of delicious desserts to choose from and the store also has a huge range of local produce if you're looking for some supplies whilst you're away.

Right next door is Merricks House, a colonial house which operates as a gallery and hosts rotating exhibitions. If you are an art lover, it is well worth dropping by to see which artist has their work on display.

Orchard Keepers in Red Hill is a stunning ten acre property that can accommodate up to ten people. Made up of a house and a workers cottage, both newly renovated and furnished, the main residence offers two living spaces, a fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine, two bathrooms and four bedrooms. The workers cottage is an open plan space that sleeps two in a queen bed, with lounge area, wood burning heater, fully equipped kitchenette and bathroom. The property also features a playground just metres from the house and the owners encourage guests to help themselves to the two kitchen gardens that have a great selection of fruit, vegetable and herbs.

Mornington Cafés
Located one hour from Melbourne, just off Mornington's main street, you'll find a chic French influenced tea house called High Tea in Paris. You can experience a taste of the French capital with their Breakfast in Paris package which allows you to choose from a range of pastries, crepes, baguettes and desserts or you could organise a private themed high tea with patisseries served in a glamorous Breakfast at Tiffany's style.

If you are after something savoury, Lilo Café located on the Esplanade is just the spot. Corn fritters with crispy bacon, avocado, tomato, spinach and sour cream is this light and bright café's specialty. With new owners taking over in 2009, and having renovated and restored this once old corner store, it's now an eclectic meeting place for locals and visitors.

Any trip to the seaside is not complete without an ice-cream stop in the afternoon and in Mornington, Tutti Frutti is the place for this. Tutti Frutti makes their light and fresh artisan gelato daily in the traditional Italian style and with 24 colourful favours there is something for everyone.

Lui Bar, Hill of Content Bookshop and Cafe Vué at Heide
On the 55th floor of the Rialto building lives the very glamorous Lui Bar. Owned and run by prominent chef Shannon Bennett, the bar is located opposite Bennett's famous restaurant, Vue de Monde, and serves cutting edge cocktails and innovative snacks, with jazz music on Sundays.

The Hill of Content bookshop on Bourke Street is a shining beacon of authentic literature and good taste, with floor to ceiling book-filled shelves which you can easily gaze at for hours on end. Book lovers will be in awe as The Hill of Content is known to stock new, old, normal and strange titles. With long opening hours it's the perfect destination if you are looking for something unique.

Established in 1981, Heide Museum of Modern Art has long been a landmark in Bulleen with its ever changing exhibition program, private collection of works and as the home of the historical Heidelberg School of Art.
