Episode 12: 5 May

The Postcards team travel far and wide on this week's episode and discover hotspots right around Victoria to suit all interests and budgets. Brodie Harper ventures to a Bazaar on Daylesford's main street and checks out designer 'Bunker' accommodation. Glen Moriarty travels all the way down south to the reinvigorated Flinders Hotel on the Mornington Peninsula. Lauren Phillips takes her Mum Liz on a shopping expedition through the glamourous Myer store in Melbourne. Rebecca Judd weaves her way through the CBD and visits the Ovolo Hotel, as well as stopping at Pei Modern where she is served some tasty treats.

Bunker and Brick Lane Bazaar (Daylesford)
Daylesford is a haven for designer accommodation and the stylish 'Bunker' is no exception, displaying a stunning example of sustainable architecture. Located just a few minutes' drive from the centre of Daylesford, which is only an hour and a half from Melbourne, the seclusion and tranquility of 'Bunker' make it an ideal bush getaway. The innovative modular design comprises of a kitchen, living and dining area, as well as one bedroom and bathroom all within the main pod. Another bedroom and ensuite is linked via a walkway, offering two couples space and privacy.

If you dig all things old school then swing by Brick Lane Bazaar on Daylesford's main street, where it's all about vintage treasures and collectables. The bazaar is made up of some 30 independent stalls that specialise in everything from antiques to automobilia. Opening in late 2012 in what was once Daylesford Art Gallery, the market is the brainchild of father-daughter team Laurie and Kate Larsen. While Laurie loves all things auto, Kate's passion is fashion.

Mother's Day Shopping Expedition at Myer
The glamourous Myer store on Bourke Street in Melbourne is the perfect place to treat Mum to a day of shopping this Mother's Day. For all of your perfume needs, head straight to 'Galerie de Parfum'. It is a world class perfumery that stocks everything from the latest celebrity scent to all-time classics. If it's more practical items that you're after, the home wares section on level five has plenty of tools and appliances for the kitchen. However, it's Myer's floor of fashion that you're bound to get lost in. The designer section houses countless bags, shoes and dresses to suit every occasion. Myer also has a couple of options for places to eat and drink in store. Brunetti is good for lunch, coffee and cake but it's hard to go past a glass of bubbly at The Salon.

Myer is celebrating Mother's Day early with a 'Royal Albert Morning Tea' on Thursday May 9. Guests will be treated to canapés and sweets on exquisite china and a glass of sparkling on arrival to the Mural Hall. Hosted by Catriona Rowntree, there will be entertainment from the cast of Legally Blonde, as well as a celebrity bake off. There's also an afternoon tea on Mother's Day itself in Mural Hall on Sunday May 12.

Flinders Hotel
Next time you take a trip down the Peninsula it's well worth heading to Flinders, around 90 minutes from Melbourne, to check out the most popular spot in town. The Flinders Hotel has always been an old favourite on the Peninsula but it's just had a serious makeover and the new Flinders Hotel is more impressive than ever. You've always been able to get a cold beer and something to eat, but in keeping with the high standards being set right across the Peninsula, you can now be wined and dined in style. For a casual meal or quiet drink, 'The Deck' has plenty to offer including plenty of space and pub classics like a good steak, parma and of course fish and chips. But if you're after something really special you cannot go past 'Terminus'. Executive Chef Pierre Khojda brings a wealth of experience that includes Michelin stars and stages at some of the world's top eateries. His mission is to take the freshest local produce available and make 'Terminus' one of Australia's best regional restaurants. If you feel like sticking around for a few days the newest addition to the property is 'Quarters Boutique Hotel'. Architecturally designed to blend into its coastal surroundings, there's a range of rooms available to suit everyone.

Pei Modern and Ovolo Hotel
Pei Modern is a restaurant that's both hidden away and in plain sight. You'll find it right by the Sofitel Hotel, just off Collins Street in the city. Inside there's a Scandinavian aesthetic of pale, crisp furnishings and plenty of woodwork. The restaurant moves from a bar area with its own menu through to a comfortably designed main room, and there's a generous outside terrace as well. The food is technically perfect and the simplicity of the exemplary produce speaks for itself.

Another Melbourne newcomer is the Ovolo Hotel on Little Bourke Street. It has been designed and inspired by the hidden laneways and gems that Melbourne is known for and offers effortless living without being far away from the action of the city. The Ovolo Hotel Melbourne has original artworks, luxurious bathrooms, quality furnishings and the occasional quirky touch to keep things interesting. There's a range of room types on offer, with everything from a brightly decorated studio to a spacious two bedroom penthouse with a terrace and a spa.

Hugh Gallery Flinders, Pei Bar, Myer –  My Flowerhouse and Emporia Cafe
It is well worth a trip to the Mornington Peninsula, simply due to the fact that you are guaranteed to be surrounded by gorgeous scenery and you may even come across a few surprises as well. One hidden gem is Hugh Gallery in Flinders, where you'll find Hugh Evans, a very talented artist with a big personality. A stroll through the gallery will take you on quite a journey and you might even find that perfect piece.

Pei Modern is an all-day diner and so the day starts with a breakfast that's not to be missed. Breakfast is served in the restaurant's more casual bar space, Pei Bar, where every dish is perfectly crafted. Tasty dishes served up at Pei Bar include scrambled eggs with smoked ocean trout and herbs; smashed avocado with ricotta on sourdough and Pei's popular black pudding.

My Flowerhouse in Myer has a talented team of designers with the ability to create anything for every special occasion. They pride themselves on their truly beautiful flowers and they also specialise in corporate flowers.

Also located on the ground floor of the Bourke Street Myer store is the cute Emporia Café. You can grab something on the go or sit down to order simple yet satisfying sweet or savoury snacks.
