Episode 38: Lancemore Group
This week on Postcards, the team is lucky enough to explore three beautiful Lancemore Group properties. Each hotel is surrounded by manicured gardens and offers luxurious accommodation as well as delicious fare at each of their onsite restaurants. Brodie Harper travels to Red Hill and is given a tour of the Lindenderry property, where she is shown the individually decorated guestrooms before going for a stroll through the picturesque surrounding grounds. She admires the modern sculptures that are scattered throughout Lindenderry's 30 acres of gardens, enjoys some high tea in the courtyard and even has a go at playing croquet on the lawn. Shane Crawford picks up where Brodie left off and continues exploring Lindenderry. He walks amongst the vines in Lindenderry's vineyard and learns about the wine varieties produced, before stopping by Lindenderry's onsite restaurant Linden Tree. The restaurant is surrounded by magnificent rolling hills and offers delicious dishes that are sure to satisfy every palate. Rebecca Judd ventures to the opposite side of the bay and visits the Mansion Hotel and Spa at Werribee Park. Firstly she has a bite to eat at Joseph's restaurant before indulging in some pampering at the destination spa. Rebecca is also given a guided tour of the historic Mansion and then rounds out her day with a spot of High SocieTEA in the library. Finally, Glen Moriarty road trips to Milawa where he picks up some locally sourced tasty treats from Snow Road Produce before dabbling in some wine tasting at Brown Brothers Winery. He then ventures across the road to another beautiful Lancemore property – Lindenwarrah – where he is shown the beautiful rooms, the onsite spa and Merlot restaurant, where he is served some delicious regional dishes.
Lindenderry at Red Hill
Lindenderry at Red Hill is one of four premium Lancemore Collection properties across the state. Founded in 1986, the Lancemore Group is both a leading Australian boutique lifestyle brand and pioneer in the Australian hotel industry. It all started in the Macedon Ranges when Peter and Jan Clark built Lancemore Hill, the first purpose built conference centre in the country. With dreams of creating the perfect European style country house hotel, Lindenderry at Red Hill was opened in 1996, followed by Lindenwarrah at Milawa in 2001. The most recent addition is the Mansion Hotel and Spa at Werribee Park.
Each of the Lancemore Hotels is set on stunning vineyards and Lindenderry at Red Hill is no exception, with 3.3 hectares of vines that produce award winning wine. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the wine varieties produced here, whereas the Macedon property produces Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Lindenderry's onsite restaurant 'Linden Tree' offers a picturesque dining experience as it is surrounded by tall trees and rolling hills. The food is exceptional, with the kitchen producing such dishes as seared scallops with lobster tortellini, duck fillet smoked over vine leaves and pork cheek with kimchi. The cookies and cream dessert comes with chocolate crumbs, white chocolate foam, caramel, mint gel and chocolate ice cream, and if you can fit it in, also try something off the cheese menu.
Lindenderry at Red Hill also offers premium accommodation and is the perfect place to base yourself for an indulgent stay on the Mornington Peninsula. This country house hotel has 40 individually decorated guestrooms with four accommodation options to choose from, including garden rooms and superior balcony rooms. Each room has floor to ceiling windows so you are guaranteed to have a view, whether it's of gardens, vineyards or the courtyard. The entire hotel has just undergone a refurbishment, so the rooms are looking fresh with lovely new furniture to lounge around in. There is complimentary Wi-Fi in each of the five lounge areas, and there is also a rotating art space within the hotel. Lindenderry has 30 acres of manicured gardens for you to explore, so be sure to stroll by the lake and feed the ducks, or enjoy some scones with jam and cream in the fragrant courtyard. There is also a Wellness Centre, an indoor pool, and a tennis court onsite, and you can even try your hand at croquet which is set up on the lawn. On weekends over summer, the wood fire pizza oven will be turned on so that you can dine al fresco under a tall tree with a glass of vino.
