Private Dining Rooms – Donovans, Rosetta, Grossi Florentino
Grossi Florentino on Bourke Street is a Melbourne institution, mainly due to the man who made it famous, Guy Grossi. Grossi Florentino's perfect blend of old and new makes it a great place to host any party or function and with the recent facelift of the upstairs dining area and addition of the beautiful private dining room, it's even better. Following on from the success of Spice Temple and Rockpool, Neil Perry has opened Rosetta, his third restaurant at Crown. No expense has been spared in the fit-out and it's like nothing seen before in Melbourne. The main dining area pays homage to some of the world's great entertainers and offers both al fresco and private dining options. Feel like taking the short trip from the city to the beach? There's one more private dining room you have to try. Head to Donovans in St Kilda and let Gail and Kevin's brilliant head chef make sure everything is served up to perfection.

The Caterers – The Big Group, Peter Rowland
For many Melburnians, a party's just not a party without Peter Rowland Catering. It's one of Melbourne's largest catering companies, and while Postcards is celebrating its 15th anniversary, this catering company has clocked up more than 50 years in the biz! Peter Rowland Catering has more than a dozen venues, but a favourite is the Chapter House. Built in 1891 and tucked away next to St Paul's Cathedral on Flinders Lane, Chapter House's arched windows and huge vaulted ceiling make a great impression. Next stop is the Richmond headquarters of The Big Group, a catering company known for its dramatically designed events, which can be styled to just about any theme. Luminaire, a New York inspired loft with sweeping city views, is one The Big Group's favourite destinations and a perfect blank canvas for any function.

About three hours out of Melbourne, Perricoota Station is situated on 350 acres in the border town of Moama, just a short drive from Echuca. This Victorian homestead offers every feature of the era including tessellated verandas, an ornate entrance hall with pressed iron high ceilings and marble fire places. The simply decorated house, which featured in the classic movie All the Rivers Run, sleeps up to 24 people. If you're holding a party or function at Perricoota Station, or would love to dine somewhere interesting in the region, then The Packing Shed is the very place for that. 'From the paddock to the plate' is the motto of head chef, Bruce Johnson, and he backs it up with home-raised Angus beef and local yabbies from Pericoota. The brand new eatery caters for up to 250 people and is open for lunch and dinner from Friday through to Sunday.
