Episode 01: Summer series
On this week's episode of Postcards Summer Series, Rebecca Judd ventures to the Mornington Peninsula where she explores the beautiful Tussie Mussie Vineyard Retreat, before heading back into the CBD to stop by the Salvation Army City Centre where she learns all about the history of the Salvo's and the great work that they do. Lauren Phillips is given a first-hand glimpse of the Myer Christmas windows in the CBD, before going on a Christmas shopping expedition in Myer's City Store. Finally, Brodie Harper heads North West of Melbourne to Hepburn Springs for a fabulous accommodation experience at the divine Amazing Grace, before stopping in at Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm to learn how to make their extremely popular lavender scones.
Tussie Mussie Vineyard Retreat
Tussie Mussie Vineyard Retreat offers several different types of self-contained accommodation. You can stay in the main 'Lodge', with its four bedrooms, country kitchen and comfortable lounge, the 'Old Laundry' which is a private suite that exudes relaxation and romance, and the 'Vineyard Cottage' which is completely separate and has a view of the vineyard. One of the attractions of the property is the Vineyard Kitchen, and it's here that you can cook to your heart's content using ingredients from the kitchen garden and eat in the modern dining space adjoining it. Another culinary attraction is the outdoor pizza oven where you can make your own or better still hire in a chef to make one for you.

Myer Store, Bourke Street Mall
Visiting the famous Christmas windows at Myer in the Bourke Street Mall is an age old Melbourne tradition that thousands of families enjoy annually. The masterminds behind the windows begin planning well in advance when a huge warehouse is transformed into what can only be described as a Santa's workshop, where many helpers create the most amazing props. Every year there is a theme and this year it is 'Gingerbread Friends' taken from the enchanting children's book by American author Jan Brett. After admiring the windows, be sure to venture inside Myer and check out all of the great Christmas gift options. The glamorous perfumery at Myer's city store never disappoints, whether you are looking for something truly unique or the very latest scent. You're also bound to find everything from the latest gadgets to beautiful pieces for the dining room in the Home ware department, and for those all-important presents for the kids, make your way to the Toy department – you can't go wrong. Finally, a Christmas shopping trip isn't complete without a visit to the Christmas trim department, where you'll find all of the latest Christmas decorations for your tree and home.

Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm and Amazing Grace
The charming Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm is located just outside Hepburn Springs. The onsite café, La Trattoria offers a small, select and seasonal menu but the highlight has to be their famed lavender scones. Eat outdoors under the shade of the trees, or inside in the rather beautiful rustic surrounds.
When it comes time to rest your head there's a luxury abode in Hepburn Springs that's just waiting to be lounged in called Amazing Grace. The three bedroom house happily accommodates between two and six people. Designed for relaxation, luxury and exploring, it's fabulous for girls' weekends, a group get together or a romantic stay for two.

Salvation Army's city centre in Victoria is not only a place that provides meals to those in need but also offers a slice of our state's history. Located on the fourth floor at 69 Bourke Street is their Heritage Centre that is open to the public. It is here you'll find the Salvation Army Museum which houses historical displays and memorabilia. In terms of providing for those in need, the first permanent social program established anywhere in the world for the Salvos was in Melbourne. That tradition continues today with the Outreach Bus that operates four nights a week opposite Federation Square – feeding young people dinner. Come the weekend there are the CBD Street Teams that work from 11pm to 5am around the city and from Monday to Friday, and people can come to the Hamodava Café at 69 Bourke Street for a coffee or a sit-down breakfast and lunch. Some 2,000 meals are served weekly from 9am until 1pm. There are many ways we can all assist the Salvo's in their work, whether it be through volunteering, or donating goods and money. At this time of the year, purchasing the Myer Spirit of Christmas CD which features the Salvation Army band is a nice way to make a contribution. You can also call in and make a purchase at one of the many Salvos Stores around Melbourne which stock a wide variety of pre-loved goods.
