Episode 03: Summer series
On this week's episode of Postcards Summer Series, Rebecca Judd travels to Koonwarra in Eastern Victoria where she stocks up on fresh produce at the Koonwarra Store and The Paddlewheel, before going across the road to Milly and Romeo's where she takes a cooking class and eyes off all of the sweet treats behind the counter. She then travels north to the Echuca-Moama area to visit Perricoota Station where she is shown the beautiful property and onsite eatery – 'The Packing Shed'. Lauren Phillips is given a first-hand glimpse of the Myer Christmas windows in the CBD, before going on a Christmas shopping expedition in Myer's City Store, and Glen Moriarty ventures to the quaint town of Creswick where he has his fill of baguettes, tarts and macarons at 'Le Peche Gourmand', before putting his feet up at a recently renovated property on the outskirts of Daylesford called 'Morgantis'.
Koonwarra Store and Emporium, The Paddlewheel and Milly and Romeo's
Koonwarra is a two hour drive from Melbourne and has plenty to offer, including the famous Koonwarra Store and Emporium. This gem has everything from breakfast dishes, coffee, cake, sandwiches, and substantial lunch offerings, to cheese, preserves and other local produce that you can purchase. These days the store is open seven days a week, and has added an emporium where you'll find an eclectic mix of pre-loved home wares and furnishings to add that unique decorator touch to your home.
Right next door is The Paddlewheel, a farmer's market with 'fresh from the farm' offerings such as seasonal fruit and vegetables, honey, dairy, cheese, artisan bread, beef, lamb and free range certified organic chicken.
For more of the locally made and the delicious, you can't go past Milly and Romeo's Artisan Bakery and Cooking School located just across the road. Here you'll find country breakfast dishes, fresh lunch options and sweet treats such as sponge with organic jam and cream. You can also take part in a dynamic cooking class onsite where you'll learn simple, effective techniques and recipes.

Myer Store, Bourke Street Mall
Visiting the famous Christmas windows at Myer in the Bourke Street Mall is an age old Melbourne tradition that thousands of families enjoy annually. The masterminds behind the windows begin planning well in advance when a huge warehouse is transformed into what can only be described as a Santa's workshop, where many helpers create the most amazing props. Every year there is a theme and this year it is 'Gingerbread Friends' taken from the enchanting children's book by American author Jan Brett. After admiring the windows, be sure to venture inside Myer and check out all of the great Christmas gift options. The glamorous perfumery at Myer's city store never disappoints, whether you are looking for something truly unique or the very latest scent. You're also bound to find everything from the latest gadgets to beautiful pieces for the dining room in the Home ware department, and for those all-important presents for the kids, make your way to the Toy department – you can't go wrong. Finally, a Christmas shopping trip isn't complete without a visit to the Christmas trim department, where you'll find all of the latest Christmas decorations for your tree and home.

Le Peche Gourmand and Morgantis
The town of Creswick sits right between the city of Ballarat and Daylesford and one drawcard to this town in the heart of the Goldfields is the authentic French patisserie Le Peche Gourmand. This delectable gem is not something you'd expect to find in country Victoria, but it is a welcome addition to the area due to the range of freshly baked French treats it offers such as macarons, baguettes, tarts and gateau. The boulangerie patisserie has already picked up a Golden Plate award, so why not do as the French do and try a little bit of everything whilst sipping your tea or hot chocolate in front of the fire.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay whilst on your rural adventure, go no further than Morgantis, an 1860s cottage situated on the outskirts of Daylesford. This stunning property offers a relaxed country setting and has recently undergone a massive renovation so provides everything you need to feel right at home. This getaway has four bedrooms, plenty of space for lounging around, a full kitchen plus a fantastic outdoor entertaining area with a wood fired pizza oven. Catering is also available if you'd like a local chef to come in and tantalise your taste buds.
