Mitchell River Loop

Bairnsdale

An easy ride along both sides of the Mitchell River, where there are several picnic spots and information boards along the way. Howitt Park is also the start of the East Gippsland RailTrail so if feel like riding further.

Distance: 5.6 km return
Track: Generally smooth dirt or gravel track
Grade: Level 1 – No experience required, suitable for beginners and children.
Start: Howitt Park, Bairnsdale
Finish: Howitt Park, Bairnsdale
Note: This is a great ride for families.

Getting there: Travel via Monash Freeway (M1) and Princes Highway (A1) to Bairnsdale approximately 28 km east of Melbourne. The ride starts in Howitt Park on the left, just after you cross the Mitchell River Bridge immediately to the west of the town centre.
