Walhalla Goldfields Rail Trail
Erica
Ride through magnificent forests and enjoy views of the Thomson River along part of the narrow gauge railway route that once ran from Moe to Walhalla. Visit Walhalla with a train ride from Thomson Station or ride from Thomson to Walhalla on the road.
Distance: 7km one way
Track: Generally smooth dirt or gravel track with some rough dirt sections
Grade: Level 2 – Suitable for most ages and fitness levels, some riding experience recommended.
Start: Erica
Finish: Thomson Station
Note: This trail can become muddy and slippery after rain, so is suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids only. The last 300m of the trail near Thomson is steep and narrow so take care.
Getting there: Travel via Monash Freeway (M1) and Princes Highway (A1) to the Moe turn off and follow the signs to Erica approximately 170km east of Melbourne. Park at the gravel dump 1km south of Erica on the Moe–Erica Road for the tracks at Collins Siding, and at Mill Park for the tracks on the other side of town.
