Overview

Rosedale

While many towns lay the claim, Rosedale does really offer the best of both worlds, bringing sought-after inner-city features to a bucolic rural setting.

Distinctively Gippsland

A small, quaint village set between Traralgon and Sale on the banks of the Latrobe River in Central Gippsland, Rosedale places a premium on the kinds of cafes, local produce purveyors and vintage shops you're usually likely to see much closer to Melbourne.

Find a holiday read in an eclectic bookstore, fossick through bric-a-brac collections or discover pottery and sculptures made by local artists.

Distinctive historic features and lush scenery make it clear that you're firmly in Gippsland, however. Get a sense of local history by completing the Heritage Walk from Willow Park Reserve, taking in highlights like the Mechanics Institute and St Mark's Church. Historic homesteads dot the surrounding countryside.

Take some fragrant time out in the Victorian Rose Gardens, and take a snap of the lifesize statue of racehorse Patrobus.

Contemporary cafes

Your walk around town may take longer than anticipated, with unscheduled stops in the intriguing shopfronts and frequent sampling of the tantalising treats and excellent coffee in the local bakery, Nursery Cafe, or the award-winning Cafe 3847. Be sure to taste the standout regional wines.
