Overview

Art & culture

Delve into the thriving art and culture scene all across Gippsland. Stop in and explore quality galleries including the Latrobe Regional Gallery in Morwell, the Great Alpine Gallery, and the Orbost Exhibition Centre on the Snowy. Check out local talent that is highlighted alongside works by prominent Australian artists and catch a variety of travelling exhibitions on show.

Artful wanderings

A number of small villages peppered across Gippsland add flavour to the arts scene. Yarragon is a browser's delight, and the creative towns of Fish Creek, Metung and Nowa Nowa add a quirky flavour. Visit intimate studios and art galleries where visitors are welcome to browse and buy fine examples of local art and craft, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, woodcrafts, glass, textiles and more.

Old and new

Enjoy a wide variety of live theatre and music at performing arts centres in Warragul, Traralgon and Sale, as well as at smaller venues across the region. Looking to get a glimpse into the past? Spend a day at a local museum or learn about the region's Indigenous heritage at the Krowathunkoolong Keeping Place.

Kick up your heels

Time your visit to coincide with one of the exciting cultural events taking place during the year. A highlight of the calendar is the Be Inspired! Creative Gippsland Festival held across several locations throughout May. Art lovers will enjoy the Mirboo North Arty Gras during April, while the key music festivals include the Moe, Jazz and Paynesville Jazz Festivals, Bruthen Blues, and Mossvale Music Festival, all occurring throughout autumn.
