Restaurants & cafes

Whether you're after a relaxed cafe lunch or a luxurious dinner, you'll find what you're looking for in the Goldfields. With dining experiences that combine fresh regional produce, progressive cuisine and some of the finest wine in the state, you'll be returning again and again.

The good life

The Goldfields region is fast becoming synonymous with quality contemporary dining. In Ballarat, Catfish boasts fresh, modern Thai and The Lane restaurant is becoming a local favourite for its relaxed dining and regional produce.

Bendigo boasts the stylish offerings of Masons of Bendigo and the Dispensary Enoteca, and the grilled goodness of the Woodhouse. Not to be outdone, Castlemaine has become a major player in the dining arena with a host of great options including the European inspired Good Table and the Public Inn.

Cafe culture

Soak up the local village atmosphere in cosy cafes dotted around the region's historic towns. Watch the roasting at work at Bendigo's Brewhouse Coffee Roasters, go Mediterranean at El Gordo and find your favourite corner in Percy and Percy. In Ballarat, get your Axil coffee fix from Yellow Espresso or go retro at Eclectic Tastes. Get serious about small-batch micro-roasted beans at Castlemaine's Coffee Basics or nab a rooftop spot for the best views in town at Togs Cafe.

At the wineries

For a different type of outdoor dining experience enjoy a meal overlooking the vines at a local winery restaurant such as Merindoc, Balgownie Estate and Flynns in the Heathcote region, or Bress Wine Cider and Produce in Harcourt.
