Wonder at the beauty and terror of the Shipwreck Coast, honoured in Warrnambool's scenic coastal promenades, heritage museums and an unforgettable sound and laser show.

Lookouts and history on show
Enjoy Warrnambool's captivating position, nestled into the rising contour of Victoria's south-west coast amid green dairying country and overlooking the deep blue of the Southern Ocean. Breathe in the sea air with a stroll along the 5.7-kilometre Foreshore Promenade, then pause for breakfast with a view at the Pavilion Cafe and Bar.

Discover the seafaring history of Warrnambool and the rugged Shipwreck Coast with a visit to the award winning Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. Admire the historic lighthouses and see the infamous Loch Ard shipwreck of 1878 brought to life with a fascinating sound and laser show.

A whale of a time
Find a spot at the viewing platform at Logans Beach and be the first to catch a glimpse of a fluking southern right whale. These giants return every June to October to their nursery at the beach to give birth and raise their calves. They can often be seen just 100 metres off the shore, but make time for multiple visits.

Kick up your heels
Explore a vibrant arts and events scene, concentrated at the south end of Liebig Street, and enjoy fine food at excellent restaurants serving the best and freshest local produce. Check out the Warnnambool Art gallery and discuss the work over a boutique brew at award-winning Flying Horse Bar & Brewery. Bring the family to the Fun 4 Kids Festival, one of Australia's best community events celebrating imagination and creative spirit, for children aged 2–12 years.

If you're after a festive day at the races, stop by for the Warrnambool May Race Carnival, featuring the popular Scotty Stewart Brierly Steeplechase.

Beach bound
Make a beeline for one of the many spectacular beaches surrounding the bustling township during the summer months. Dive in for a spot of swimming or surfing, or just take a slow wander along the beach in the sun.

Get the gang together for an experience to remember. Join a tour and take a ride on horseback through the sand dunes and out along the rugged beaches lining the Southern Ocean.
