Events

From world-class surfing and ocean swims to folk music and wine, the Great Ocean Road region hosts a diverse range of festivals and events.

On the peninsula
In Geelong see stunning aerobatics at the Australian International Airshow or watch colourful spinnakers fly on Corio Bay in Geelong during the Festival of Sails – Australia's largest regatta. On the Bellarine Peninsula take in the best in Australian blues, rock, pop, funk and jazz music at the Queenscliff Music Festival in November.

Down the coast
Bells Beach is home to the Rip Curl Pro, the world's longest running professional surfing event and one of the most sought after titles on the World Championship Tour. Not content being a spectator? Get amongst the 4,000 people taking part in the Lorne Pier to Pub, the world's largest open water swim, or test your stamina on the gruelling Surf Coast Century course. Cyclists will love the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, with its concept inspired by the prestigious Spring Classics of Europe.

Feel the beat
Get musical in March at the Port Fairy Folk Festival – a four-day celebration of folk, blues, jazz and country music or land in Queenscliff in November for a big weekend of music by local and international stars. Check out Pako Festa and join over 100,000 people for a smorgesboard of food, folk dancing, parades, workshops, exhibitions and free activities. Visit the Bellarine Peninsula in June for the National Celtic Festival, boasting all the magic of Celtic music, dancing, pipers and drummers.

Something for the foodies
Summer in Portarlington brings the Portarlington Mussel Festival, with food and wine, music and lots of fun for the kids. Prefer something more grown-up? Celebrate the best of the region at Toast to the Coast, held at wineries in The Bellarine, Moorabool Valley and the Surfcoast.
