High Country Rail Trail
Hugging the shoreline of Lake Hume and stretching from Wodonga right through to Old Tallangatta, the High Country Rail Trail is the latest rail trail to open in Victoria's north east. Load up the bikes and begin the 35ikilometre journey boasting spectacular mountain views, historical sites and the cool expanse of Lake Hume.
Travel up easy, scenic grades from Wodonga to Old Tallangatta, which run alongside Lake Hume, and push on into the rugged, steeper grades at Koetong, perfect for riders looking for some challenging bush expeditions. Cross over the spectacular Sandy Creek Bridge on Lake Hume and ride on to explore Tallangatta, a town that was relocated in the 1950s after a flood. Venture a little further to check out the old trestle bridges and historic railway buildings built by the state’s early pioneers.
