2016 Tahbilk Bridge to the Vines - Head of the Goulburn

04 12 909 795

22 Oct 2016

The eleventh annual 7.2 kilometre Head of the Goulburn will be hosted by Nagambie Rowing Club on Saturday, 22 October, 2016.

Known as the only regatta in the world to finish at a winery, the race starts at historic Chinaman's Bridge in Nagambie and finishes at the equally historic Tahbilk Winery (named Australian Winery of the Year 2015-15 by James Halliday). Along the way competitors will enjoy the beautiful and protected Goulburn River, passing the birthplace of champion racehorse Black Caviar. No charge for spectators to watch the start from the bank just upstream from the Bridge (from 10 am until about noon) or the boats finishing at Tahbilk.

After the racing, competitors and spectators will enjoy the carnival atmosphere in front of the Tahbilk Wine Cellar, featuring acoustic rock band the BlueEarth, while choosing something to eat from a variety of gourmet foodstalls and sampling/buying wine from several local vineyards.

Canoes and kayaks will be available to rent at Tahbilk for spectators who didn't race, or competitors who raced so hard they couldn't see much of the scenery, to have a leisurely exploratory paddle either up or downstream.
