With a shoreline of 515 kilometres and a capacity of 2,290,000 megalitres, Lake Eildon holds up to six times the amount of water of Sydney Harbour. With many picturesque and tranquil inlets to explore, Lake Eildon has long been a favourite for houseboat holidays, with plenty of houseboats available for hire.
Lake Eildon National Park offers a variety of settings from open bush on the northern side to dense vegetation on the southern and eastern sides. The northern Delatite Arm Reserve and the southern Fraser Camping Grounds have large and very popular campsites with full facilities. The Fraser Camping Grounds are frequented by mobs of kangaroos and hordes of tame parrots and there are a number of good walking tracks of various lengths leading from or near the camp sites along which you may also see some of the area's abundant wildlife.
Water levels vary significantly throughout the year, so you may wish to contact the local visitor information centre to obtain the current water levels.
