Kiewa Valley & Falls Creek
For mountain bikers and on-road cycling fanatics alike, there's no better place to be than the mountains and rivers surrounding Falls Creek, Mount Beauty and the Kiewa Valley. Grab your gloves, slap on your helmet and choose the trail that's right for you.
As well as being the perfect base for those wanting the challenge of mountain climbs around Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Mount Buffalo and Tawonga Gap, Mount Beauty also offers plenty of rides for the more casual road cyclist. Take in breathtaking scenery as you make your way through the rolling hills, valleys, high plains and mountains of the High Country.
Check out the Big Hill Mountain Bike Park located in the heart of Mount Beauty and explore the trail network of approximately 40-50 kilometres of single track. Regarded as one of Australia's premier cross-country and downhill areas, the park regularly hosts races, including the National Mountain Bike Championships.
If a quiet drink is more appealing than a sweaty uphill climb, cycle over to Sweetwater Brewery and kick back with a cold beer at the foot of Mount Bogong.
With road climbs to rival the best in Europe, Falls Creek is a favourite destination for both local and visiting cyclists. The fully sealed Bogong High Plains Road makes the Alpine Loop one of the best touring loops in the country. Circumnavigate the Alpine National Park taking in the beautiful mountain towns of Omeo, Mount Beauty and Bright via Dinner Plain and Mt Hotham. Time your visit to catch the epic 235-kilometre SCODY 3 Peaks Challenge down the back of Falls Creek in March.
