Mansfield, Mount Buller & surrounds
Year round views of the magnificent High Country, treks along rugged bush tracks, and relaxing rail trail rides make the Mansfield and Mount Buller region a special place for every kind of cyclist.
There and back
Roadies will love the quiet country roads, ranging from short and sharp to long and undulating. Gear up for the Booralite/Chapel Hill Loop, a new trail near Mansfield snaking through local farming country. Beginners will love the 20-kilometre loop to Barwite and serious riders should try the journey to the summit of Mount Buller. Time yourself and see how you compare to local pro, Simon Gerrans.
Mount Buller is home to over 100 kilometres of quality mountain bike trails, stretching around the mountain, over to neighbouring Mount Stirling and down into the Delatite and Howqua valleys. With tracks to suit all skill levels, it's the perfect mountain bike experience with a wide variety of terrain, alpine views and cool summer days. Trails are open from December to April.
For the perfect family escape hire bikes and ride out along the Great Victorian Rail Trail, the highlight of any visit to the area. Alternatively, grab supplies from the local produce store and head to the hills for a picnic lunch with panoramic High Country views.
Need a little romance? Hit the rail trail and spend a lazy day on the shores of Lake Eildon or peddle out to the beautiful King Valley for lunch and a glass of the region's famous Prosecco.
