Tours, treats and country rides
Take the Prosecco Road tour, which takes in the King Valley and the Pedal to Produce tour of Milawa. Roads vary from long and flat to sharp and windy depending on the area, but you can be sure it's well worth the effort.
Popular with local bike riders and visiting peddlers, the Milawa Gourmet Ride from Wangaratta to Milawa is an easy 13 kilometres over flat terrain. Pop in and out of cellar doors, farm gates and gourmet food stores until you come to the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail at Everton. Extend your ride here and follow the quiet country roads out through Eldorado and on back to Wangaratta.
Need to work off a few calories after a weekend in the valley? Head out to Myrrhee and test your mettle on the Strade Nero – a hard packed dirt climb heading towards Whitlands.
Visit in springtime, when the valley comes alive. Join in the action at the Sam Miranda Road Race. Held in the last weekend of August, the event falls somewhere between a traditional road race and the more challenging but non-competitive Audax events. October brings the King Valley Challenge. Run, swim and cycle along the course that takes in Lake William Hovell, Whitlands and the Powers Lookout. History loving riders will love the Kelly Country Classic in November – a participation ride along some of Ned Kelly's trails in Glenrowan, Greta, Myrrhee and Moyhu
