Melbourne is generally flat, so you can coast along the bike lanes and paths to shops and cafés, or through the Yarra River's parks and gardens without working up too much of a sweat. 

Push the old treadly even further to the St Kilda foreshore or on to the beautiful beaches of the peninsula.

Getting from A to B around town
Jump on a Melbourne Bike Share hire bike from one of the CBD docking stations. Bring your own helmet, or purchase one from a nearby vending machine or 7-Eleven. Return it for a refund when you drop off the bike.

Safety first
Be sure to follow the road rules and wear bright clothing when cycling. Helmets are compulsory, and night riders must affix a light to their bikes and wear reflective clothing.
