Witness one of Australia's greatest sporting events at the Sports Precinct's accessible venues: the MCG, Melbourne Park, Olympic Park and AAMI Park. Walk 15 minutes from the CBD and you could be barracking yourself hoarse at tennis, cricket and rugby matches, or Australian Rules football, cycling and basketball games.

The G
See at least one match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Catch a game of Australian Rules football (AFL) between March and September when the season closes with the spectacular AFL Grand Final.

Alternatively, spend summer in the stands cheering on the cricketing nations battling for honours in the legendary Boxing Day Test.

Looking back
Stop by the National Sports Museum at the MCG to see an amazing collection of sporting memorabilia. Become a sporting boffin with the displays at the exhibitions and halls of fame.

Playing in the Park
Catch the annual Australian Open at Melbourne Park in January, with stars bashing balls on Rod Laver and Margaret Court arenas. Witness powerhouse pop performances and family events at Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena, also the venue for basketball and cycling. Still in Melbourne Park, Olympic Park harks back to Melbourne's Olympic history and is now the home ground of A League soccer team, Melbourne Heart.

Storm and Victory
Cheer on one and all at rectangular  AAMI Park, where you could see Melbourne Storm, members of the National Rugby League (NRL), Rugby Union team Melbourne Rebels, or Melbourne Victory, the city's original A League soccer team.
