A popular street art destination, Croft Alley is also home to one of Melbourne's very first laneway bars – the quirky, science lab-inspired Croft Institute, which sits down the very end of the lane. Taking up three levels, the space offers everything from quiet post work bevvies to DJs and dancing into the wee hours upstairs in the 'gym'.

You won't find much laneway action during the day, just the odd hospitality worker putting the bins out, so that's a good time to check out the colourful murals and tags that line the walls. But nighttime brings the happy revellers and turns what can seem to be a dark, foreboding alley into 'the place to be'.
