Open Garden at Kinkora, Hawthorn

0472 997 880

18 - 19 Nov 2017

Here is an opportunity to visit Kinkora, a magnificent property in Hawthorn. The original property was established in 1877 and both the house and garden were renovated 12 years ago.

The garden demonstrates how to use the bones of an established garden with contemporary landscaping plants and materials to create a strong Modernist design for family living.

It includes an area inspired by southern-Californian gardens, a 'wild garden' with a dry creek, bottle trees and palms along with climbing roses and an oval bed of sedum. Overlooking the tennis court is a barbecue area, with a rooftop garden, planted 12 months ago.

Several sculptures and a nashi pear arbour lead to the pool, water feature, orchard and beehive. The pump house, dog kennel and clothesline are made of rusted steel. The herb garden, pergola with white wisteria, woodland area and old stables add to the charm of this delightful garden.

There will be refreshments and plants for sale and places to enjoy a picnic, so come along and enjoy this, and another Open Garden in Kinkora Road.
