Get gruesome as an expert panel, including a medical historian and a molecular parasitology specialist, discuss the microscopic mysteries coursing through our veins and under your skin.About the speakersDr Ryan Jefferies is Creative Director for Science Gallery Melbourne's inaugural exhibition Blood and curator of the Harry Brookes Allen Museum of Anatomy and Pathology. After completing a PhD in infectious disease research, specialising in molecular parasitology, he conducted postdoctoral research at Phylogica, the University of Western Australia and the University of Bristol, before working with Museum Victoria and the University of Melbourne.Dr Ross Jones has taught in secondary schools in the UK and Australia for 20 years and more recently lectured in the history of medicine and biology at the University of Melbourne. He has published in the areas of the history of anatomy, eugenics and education, including Humanity’s mirror: 150 years of anatomy in Melbourne (2007). He is an honorary Senior Fellow in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience at the University of Melbourne and an Associate member of the History Department at the University of Sydney. He is currently the Redmond Barry Fellow jointly at State Library Victoria and the University of Melbourne.
