03 9604 8100

26 Oct 2017

The Victorian Parliament will soon consider new legislation on voluntary assisted dying. The proposed laws come after recommendations made in The Final Report of the Ministerial Advisory Panel on Voluntary Assisted Dying, and would strengthen the rights of people in Victoria with terminal illness to end their lives.

Victoria Law Foundation presents a community forum to explore what this proposed legislation could mean through a panel discussion of experts covering legal; and health perspectives. They will also discuss how the recommendations made in the Final Report would affect people receiving or working in palliative care.

Panel will feature: Julian Gardner AM, member of the Ministerial Advisory Panel on Voluntary Assisted Dying; Lawyer; Chair of Mind Australia, Steven Amsterdam Palliative care nurse and author, Kathy Wilson Principal of Aitken Partners in the Succession and Elder Law Team.

A fourth speaker will be added to the panel soon.

Lynne Haultain, executive Director of Victoria Law Foundation will facilitate the evening.

The Law and You Forums are community events that explore areas of law that affect Victorians and their lives. The forums are hosted by Victoria Law Foundation.

Presented by Victoria Law Foundation.
