Heidelberg Choral Society will give two performances of Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht and Rossini’s Stabat Mater in August.

Musical Director Peter Bandy will conduct the choir, along with acclaimed soloists and orchestra.

Die erste Walpurgisnacht (The First Walpurgis Night) is a poem by Goethe, relating the attempts of Druids to practise pagan rituals.

Whereas Rossini’s Stabat Mater features has some of the best virtuoso vocal lines, stunning tunes and beautiful choruses ever written. Doors open Saturday August 26 at 7:30 pm and Sunday August 27 at 2:30 pm.

Come and hear Heidelberg Choral Society and eminent soloists Margaret Orr (Soprano), Dimity Shepherd Mezzo Soprano), Michael Lapina (Tenor). and Paul Hughes (Bass Baritone) sing these two glorious works.

Heidelberg Choral Society is freshly back from its concert tour in China where it was thrilling audiences with its performances.
