Join the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for a romp through the Viennese countryside in Beethoven’s enchanting Symphony No.6. Brimming with glorious and optimistic melodies that will transport you from the city into rural pastures, this symphony is sure to delight from beginning to end.

Beethoven famously noted that the symphony was ‘more an expression of feelings than painting’, yet with vivid images that seem to conjure up anything from barnyard dances and brooks to a ferocious thunderstorm – it’s easy to get swept up with it all.

The MSO goes on a journey through musical language in Strauss’ tone poem, Don Quixote, with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott taking on the title role of the knightly character (Don Quixote). Inspired by the ageless 17th century novel by Miguel de Cervantes, this will be a tumultuous yet ingenious performance of a classic tale.
