Walking along the river in a foreign country,
you see a man throwing stones at a nesting duck. You ask him to stop. He tells you to mind your own business. What do you do?Presented as a part of Dance Massive, Piece For Person and Ghetto Blaster explores the rawness of confrontation and the ethical dilemma of intervention. Through the lens of a surreal but everyday event, Gunn plays out the tangle of imagined responses and repercussions through a web of performance and dance.Choreographed by Jo Lloyd to a rhythmic electronic soundscape, the interior struggle over whether to intervene or not becomes an erratic, and ecstatic, meditation on the complexities of becoming a better person. Nicola Gunn was last seen on Malthouse's stage in the furious political satire A Social Service. Piece For Person and Ghetto Blaster harnesses Gunn’s signature wit to create a scathing performance of self-examination that is hypnotic and profoundly funny.
