Long lunches

Linger over long lunches in Melbourne. You know the lunches we're talking about: the kind that start with good intentions and end with sundowners.

Lunch is a great time to check out the latest oh-so-hot-can't-get-a-table eateries. Many of Melbourne's best restaurants open offer fixed-price and Sunday lunch specials. It's often a great deal: it's easier to book, there's no queuing, and no having to vacate the table for a second shift of diners.

Pubs too are a perfect choice for the long lunch that leads into the Sunday session or at least the decision to not return to the office. And pubs with a view – well, there's no good reason to leave before the sun goes down.

Out of town, wineries were made for long lunches. Designate someone else as driver and spend quality time at Victoria's many winery eateries.

Check out the list below of some of our favourite restaurants and pubs for languorous lunches in Melbourne. Remember, the hallmark of a great long lunch is leaving as the staff set up for dinner.
