Enjoy the best of boutique shopping without the hustle and bustle of the city. Take a morning stroll through the markets, meet the locals and pick up something special for yourself or a loved one back home.
Soak up the village atmosphere and discover seaside shopping at its best in Cowes and San Remo. For the souvenir hunter, the visitor centres at the Penguin Parade, The Nobbies Centre and the Phillip Island Circuit have plenty of island mementos to choose from.
Foodies need look no further than the farmers' market on Churchill Island. Taking place on the fourth Saturday of each month, the market is one of the best local spots to pick up delicious cheeses, organic produce and free-range poultry and eggs.
Find that one-off handmade design at the Cowes craft markets, held regularly at St John's Anglican Church and the Uniting Church. For local artworks, handmade treasures and vintage clothing and furniture, head to the Westernport Hotel in San Remo on the first Sunday of the month.
Because the night
Just because the sun's going down doesn't mean the fun has to stop. Over the summer months, The Cowes Night Market comes alive with local art and craft on display. Sample fine wines, strike up a conversation and browse the many stalls to the sounds of live music.
Check out local artworks in the permanent exhibition at The Gallery at Cowes Cultural Centre, or pop in to local galleries as you travel. Artists' studios around the island are a great way to see new works being made, as are the various artists in residence programs.
