Birding in Dookie with Broken Creek Field Naturalist

0437 527 454

15 Jul 2017

Karan Balfour from BirdLife Murray Goulburn will host a birding walk in Dookie. Come along and meet up with these friendly and enthusiastic birders and bush walkers.

Meet at 10am in the car park opposite the Gladstone Hotel. There will be a short drive to a reserve near the old Dookie Chateau, then a birding walk. Lunch will be there at about 12:30.

After lunch, the group will drive to Tallis Winery to walk the hill there, a Trust For Nature covenant that features rare flowering rock correas amongst the boulder-strewn slopes and allows fantastic views of all the Goulburn Valley. Many bird species like Wedge-tailed Eagles, Brown Falcons and other raptors are often seen from here.

After the walk, coffee, cake or a glass of wine are available at the winery cafe. Bring a picnic lunch and snacks, bottled water or thermos, a chair, sun block, wet weather gear if rain threatens and comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for a wander in bushland and a camera or binoculars.
