Pick up a little piece of the Murray region for yourself before you leave. Find a great item for the living room made from the iconic red gums of the Murray River, or bring back a taste of quality local produce from specialty food shops and local markets.

Custom red gum treasures

Take a guided tour of the Arbuthnot Sawmill in Koondrook and head to the town centre to find wood-turners and furniture makers that design and build to order. Using material sustainably harvested and milled in the region, local makers showcase their signature craftsmanship and the red gums' dense and lustrous auburn glow.

Regional markets

Visit the Murray region's famous markets and get your fill of farm fresh fruit and vegetables, gourmet goodies and homemade sauces and pickles to rival your grandmother's. Crafts enthusiasts can also look forward to stalls offering handcrafted goods, art and clothing by local artisans. Time your visit to coincide with the many weekly markets and monthly markets in Mildura, Merbein, Rutherglen, Howlong and Wodonga.

Mildura retail therapy

Indulge in a day of shopping at Mildura's stylish shopping district. Stop by the fortnightly Sunday market at Langtree Mall and pick up a range of goodies including craft goods, clothing, delicious nibbles and fresh produce. During the week, the Mildura City and Centro Plaza shopping precincts offer over 300 specialty shops to choose from.

Echuca and Swan Hill boutiques

Peruse the art galleries and boutiques along High Street in Echuca-Moama. See the charming exteriors of the heritage buildings that house the local shops packed with fashion clothing and shoes, books, antiques, Aboriginal art, original paintings, jewellery and furniture. Swan Hill is also a great shopping destination offering gourmet food, specialty outlets and larger chain stores.

Albury-Wodonga

Start off your shopping trip with brunch at Mr Benedict in Albury before hitting the boutique stores for a unique retail experience in the picturesque provincial town. Wander through the Albury Central Shopping Precinct where you'll find Myer and other big brand stores. Pick up a creative gift at the Albury Art Gallery shop, find vintage items at Little Gooseberry Studio, or visit Little Nest to pick up some cute wooden toys for the kids.
