Location: Thurra River Dunes, Croajingalong National Park
Address: Via Thurra River Campground, Point Hicks Road, off Tamboon Road

Hard to pronounce, extraordinary to explore, Croajingolong National Park is home to this unique landscape of spectacular sand dunes towering some 30 metres above the Thurra River.

Climbing the track that winds to their summit through coastal banksias and heathland is a Thurra-ly good idea for a wander. The four-kilometre, two-hour return trip begins at the Thurra River camping area, near campsite number 14, which is well signposted.

Wanderers with weary legs can up the adrenaline with a spot of sandboarding at the summit. Take a body board with you and slide like the wind. It's like tobogganing for desert dwellers.
