Artefacts is an exhibition by two artists with very different styles.Sharman Feinberg's style is vivid, flamboyant and joyous while Lesley Dickamn's is more restrained in both palette and subject matter.Lesley paints mostly from the memory of objects rather than from life, which allows a freedom of subject matter that spans time and place. By creating a collection of disassociated objects the viewer is invited to either create a narrative or accept them as a fanciful exercise in aesthetics.Sharman has long been fascinated by the world of objects – highly decorated or plain, transparent or solid - the infinite variety of their shapes and colours, all formed by man from the earth. Artefacts that have a practical use and which belong in the domestic setting. Teapot, vase, cup and saucer, jug, plate, bowl, serving dish. They are all here.
