Refugees and asylum seekers in their own words.

Many Australian Photographers Group (MAPgroup) collaborate with refugees and asylum seekers to share their experiences of seeking asylum under extremely challenging circumstances.

Beyond Borders is a multimedia production and a powerful exhibition of photographs, which present an alternative view on one of the nation’s most divisive issues. Few of us have had the opportunity to know people in this harrowing position and hear their stories.

Participants – who are from countries including Burma, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Eritrea and South Sudan – share their unique stories in their own words, reminding us that these are people, not problems.

MAPgroup, an independent association of approximately 40 documentary photographers, is recognised for telling stories not often told by the mainstream media.
