Behind the seven hundred metres of cypress hedge lie a succession of terraced lawns, native, Italian and vegetable gardens, a croquet lawn, an old tennis court, a newly established rose arbor and the oldest swimming pool in Victoria.
The gardens contain rare plants and beautiful old world trees, including an English oak rumoured to be over 180 years old.
Melba's Garden is only able to be accessed via a guided tour only at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Bookings are essential. Melba's Garden is closed on all Public Holidays and Sundays.
When attending Melba's Garden Walk please note: the walk is a guided walking tour of Dame Nellie Melba’s garden. The tour takes approximately one hour. The walking route follows an unsealed and sometimes uneven pathway. It is not undercover and there are no toilets along the route.
Please ensure you wear suitable footwear and you must be capable of standing and walking unaided for the full duration of the walk (or please bring a wheelchair and a companion capable of pushing the wheelchair for the entire duration of the tour). Bring umbrellas for shade and rain protection if required and also bring drinking water – particularly in hot weather.
