Complete your visit to Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges with a trip to the magnificent, lush Trentham Falls, located just a couple of minutes from Trentham's historic town centre. Follow it up by sampling the abundant fine food, renowned local varietals and fresh produce on offer.

Gourmands and goodies

Tiny Trentham punches well above its weight in the high quality eating and drinking stakes, even for such a gourmet-obsessed region. Dine out on fresh, seasonal offerings as the hues outside change throughout the year, from golden autumn to spring's burst of colour.

RedBeard Bakery turns out coveted sourdough breads and pizzas in its 120-year-old scotch oven. Stop in at the Cosmopolitan Hotel on the corner for local, seasonal pub fare, and take in the ambient garden setting of the recently refurbished Stables.

Fill your basket

Pick up provisions after a leisurely lunch and coffee at Colliban Foodstore or Du Fermier by Queen of Kyneton, Annie Smithers. Load up on chestnuts, cherries and heirloom fruit varieties at the Nutty Orchard, and stop in at Wallaby Creek Olive Grove for on-site tastings of olive products.

Misty waterfalls, lush forest

Located on the Great Dividing Range, Trentham's main claim to fame is the magical Trentham Falls. With a drop of some 32 metres, it is Victoria's highest single-drop waterfall. Enjoy a slow picnic and take in the vista of the falls by the river.

If you're a hiker you're bound to appreciate the quality and number of walking tracks in the surrounding forest. For impressive and panoramic views of Mount Macedon, the You Yangs and the Dandenong Ranges drive to Blue Mount or McLaughlins lookouts in Wombat State Forest, or explore by foot or on horseback.
