Waterfalls

From the roar of the water and white-water rapids to the towering cliffs and dark lagoons, there are many reasons why Victoria's waterfalls capture the imagination. Though best seen in winter and spring, when rainfall is high, there are many waterfalls throughout the state that flow year-round.

Road-trip destinations
Taking a planned route is the easiest way to begin chasing waterfalls in Victoria. MacKenzie Falls, the largest waterfall in Victoria, is part of the Grampians National Park in the west. This popular waterfall flows year-round. For an all-day adventure, pack your bathers and head to the Erskine Falls in the Otways along the Great Ocean Road. With a series of gentle steps leading to the base of the falls, this is also a fantastic spot to bring a picnic.

Off track
While many of Victoria's waterfalls are easily accessible via marked tracks and boardwalks, sometimes it pays to take the path less travelled. Hopkins Falls near Warrnambool, and Trentham Falls near Daylesford, both offer impressive waterfalls located outside of parks and reserves.
