| Open since 1973, this Chinese and Malaysian eatery wears its age well, with both levels of the restaurant simply decorated and bedecked with authentic accoutrements in traditional shades of red and gold. Proclaiming to be the first Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne, Golden Orchid prides itself on its range of satays and Malaysian curries. The Chinese dishes are listed separately for those who might prefer the Mongolian pork to the nasi goreng, however the Malaysian chilli prawns are a much-recommended signature dish.
