Camping in Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges

Camp spot in the Lerderderg State Park

For those looking for a night under the stars there are camping areas in the main state and regional parks including Lerderderg State Park and Hepburn Regional Park. And the good thing about camping in this region is you’re never far from creature comforts if you need them. Directions to any of these spots can be provided by the local visitor information centres.

Hepburn Regional Park

  • Mt Franklin 
    The sheltered extinct volcanic crater of Mount Franklin provides ideal surroundings for a picnic or short term camping. Panoramic views can be obtained from the summit.
    Toilets, fireplaces and running water
    2 km off the Midland Highway (Daylesford-Castlemaine Road).

Lerderderg State Park

  • O'Briens Crossing
    This camping area is located beside Lerderderg River and flanked by steep, wild slopes. It offers a true bush experience.
    Toilets, fireplaces, and picnic tables (water available from the river but please boil before drinking)
