Upper Goulburn Historic Area

Facilities
There are a number of day visit areas along the river between Jamieson and Ten Mile. Picnic facilities are also available at Gaffney's Creek, Wood's Point and Matlock. There is a Shire of Delatite managed caravan park in Jamieson township.

Bush camping is also available at:

  • Granny's Flat Reserve- dry weather access road on the Jamieson River approximately 7 km from Jamieson on the Licola Road. Toilets and 20 campsites are available;
  • Running Creek Camping Reserve- two toilet blocks are provided and fresh water can be obtained from the river nearby (boil any water intended for drinking);
  • Doctor's Creek Reserve- toilets, picnic facilities and 15 campsites are available;
  • Skipworth's Reserve- toilets, picnic facilities and 50 campsites are available; Flourbag Reserve- has 15 camping sites;
  • Tunnel Bend Reserve- toilets, picnic facilities and 20 campsites are available; Twelve Mile Reserve- has toilets and 10 campsites;
  • Blue Hole Reserve- has toilets and 10 campsites;
  • Picnic Point Reserve- 10 campsites are available;
  • Snakes Reserve- has toilets and 40 campsites;
  • Wood's Point area;
  • Scott's Reserve- north of the town, it has toilets, picnic facilities and 40 campsites;
  • Comet Flat Reserve- south of the town, it has dry weather access to toilets, picnic facilities and 20 campsites. Fording of the Goulburn River is needed.

Access to the above camping reserves from Doctor's Creek onwards is from the Mansfield-Wood's Point Road.



Precautions
  • This area is dotted with many mine shafts. Exercise care while walking through the bush.
  • Keep out of open adits (tunnels).
  • Some tracks are steep and slippery when wet. Dry weather 4WD access is recommended.
