Loch Sport
Loch Sport is situated east of Sale on a narrow spit of land between the sand dunes of Ninety Mile Beach and Lake Victoria. It is surrounded by state and national parks, perfect for visitors seeking a natural bush retreat. The National Park covers over 2,300 hectares of coastal flora and fauna where you will see some of the most beautiful bird life in Australia. There are barbecue facilities in the park at Sperm Whale Head to picnic and enjoy the surrounding wildlife. Campsites are also available, so pitch a tent and sleep under the stars.
Cast a line in a local lake and hook bream, mullet, skip jack and flounder. Try river fishing for some of the best bream in the area, ocean beach fishing for abundant open water fish, or launch a boat at one of the many ramps along the foreshore. The marina in town also has re-fuelling facilities. The beaches of Lake Victoria at Loch Sport are favourite spots for swimming, where children and adults can swim safely off beautiful shallow sandy shores.
The Gippsland Lakes National Park is located on the fringe of Loch Sport. It features eucalypt and giant banksia woodland, with a spectacular show of wildflowers from August to November and one of the best displays of native orchids in Australia.
