Art and culture Great Ocean Road
The villages and towns of the Great Ocean Road region are dotted with galleries and studios belonging to local artists and crafts people. Stroll through these historic towns and discover artistic creations from lead lighting and jewellery to paintings, pottery and even hand-made shoes. You’ll find many of the artworks are inspired by the spectacular coastal scenery of the region.
The region’s links with the sea are also reflected in a fascinating range of local museums including Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum, depicting life in a typical Australian seaport village between 1850 and 1900, and the Portland Maritime Museum, where you can explore treasures rescued from shipwrecks.
