Warburton is one of the most picturesque village towns of the upper Yarra Valley, and Charnwood Cottages is a short stroll from the village, over the bidge and along the river. The self-contained cottages have been built in the traditional guesthouse-style architecture typical of the ranges. They are painted cream and white with the classic Australian red iron roof and a dormer window for extra light. Although the exteriors have a country cottage look, the interiors are boldly romantic and very well appointed. Savannah’s Cottage has a boudoir quality with deep claret walls and sumptuous bed linen on a queen size, wrought iron bed. Above the bed hovers a canopy of sheer, silvery fabrics. The oval spa enjoys an entire corner of the main room. Ella’s Cottage is a little less dramatic with a scheme of rich blues and oranges and a four poster bed with turned wood posts. Each air conditioned cottage has a queen size bed, in-room double spa, separate bathroom, kitchenette with fridge, cook top and microwave. There is also a comfy couch in front of a gas log fire, plus a television, video and CD player. The cottages are set in landscaped gardens and guests can now enjoy a game of tennis on the property.
