Burrinja Indigenous Art Education Programs

For Schools wishing to take advantage of this fabulous Edu-cultural resource, Burrinja Gallery offers a wide range of programs linked to the Gallery’s collection and supporting school curriculum. These include tours, talks and hands-on activity programs for students; professional development and workshops for teachers as well as information and resource kits for follow up activities and research.

All tours - workshops maximum 30 people. Duration approximately one hour.

1. Art and Cultural Learning Tour A comprehensive tour of the gallery’s collection. Includes in depth discussion of the stories and culture behind the paintings, the artists and their lands. Also discusses different techniques used. Resource package for teachers with follow up class work and further information sources included.

 

 

2. Art and Cultural Workshop with Indigenous Artist A hands on workshop conducted with an Indigenous artist. This involves students commencing work on their own piece of art using traditional techniques as demonstrated by the artist facilitator. The style of work (dot painting, raark etc) depends on the background of the particular artist. Teachers and supervisors are required to assist the students in completing their tasks. Groups need to provide some of their own materials. Please inquire when booking.
