African Walking Trail
The African Walking Trail links innovative exhibits for meerkats, servals, vervet monkeys and cheetah, as well as providing wonderful views across the waterway to zebra, waterbuck and ostrich.
Volcanic Plains Walk
The Volcanic Plains Walk is a re-creation of the Western Basalt Landscape. This exhibit is a journey through Australia 200 years ago, exhibiting many indigenous flora and fauna, while telling a story of Aboriginal culture and the land.
Wildlife Safari Tour
The 50 minute wildlife safari immerses visitors in the habitats of the animals that are displayed in natural groupings in large open range exhibits.
Safari Tour
Explore the unique gifts and souvenirs available at the Safari Shop. Browse through the many African and Australian made crafts.
The Safari shop specialises in exclusive quality items such as T- shirts, children’s toys, books and much more. Credit cards are accepted at the Safari Shop. EFTPOS service is available.
Photographic Safari
Imagine yourself amongst a herd of zebra, being followed by a giraffe or watched by a rhino.
Be immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of the savanna in the back of an open-air vehicle.
This is a perfect opportunity to experience these magnificent animals ‘up close’. Maximum 10 people.

Behind the Scenes Tour
Ever wondered what a giraffe eats at the zoo? Or how and why we weigh the rhinoceros? Are you curious about the zoo birth control? These questions and more will be answered when you go ‘Behind the Scenes’ at Werribee Open Range Zoo. The tour lasts 1 – 1 hours. Alternative times can be arranged for groups of 20.
Raising Rhino
Experience a close encounter with our male rhino and explore the challenges of breeding this threatened species.

Canoe Safari
Join this canoe trip to remember along the spectacular Werribee River – a fantastic way to experience the zoo.

There is no need to travel to Africa to relive the magical experiences of early African explorers - Slumber Safaris is the luxury tented safari camping experience at Werribee Open Range Zoo where giraffe, rhino, zebra and eland roam 200 hectares of grassy plains and sweeping river terraces.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the African Savanna from the peace and privacy of luxurious campsites. Stay in cabin sized canvas tents, complete with wooden flooring, 1920s style furnishings, king sized single and queen sized beds and outdoor decking.
Werribee Open Range Zoo provides an unforgettable African wildlife experience, where animals roam freely on grassy plains on the banks of the Werribee River.
Slumber Safaris include:

Rhythm of Africa
‘Rhythm of Africa’ an annual Summer event held at Werribee Open Range Zoo every weekend throughout January, February and the first 2 weekends in March.
The African village comes alive in the evening with the beat of the African Drum and taste of African food. Visitors will be treated to the vibrant African Bands that perform between 6:00 and 9:00pm.
Evening Safari tours depart every 30 – 40 minutes with the last tour departing at 7:00pm. The zoo closes at 9:00pm.

Meerkat Bistro and Function Centre
Enjoy lunch at the Meerkat Bistro and Function Centre as you watch the antics of the playful Meerkats. Lunch is served 12:00pm – 2:00pm. Morning and afternoon tea are also available.
The Meerkat Bistro and Function Centre, is also available for after hours functions and can cater for groups everyday of the year. Bookings are essential.
