George Bass Coastal Walk
Kilcunda
Length: 7 kilometres
Walk: 2 hours one way
Track: Good
Grade: Gentle
Start: Punchbowl car park, San Remo
Finish: Kilcunda
Nearby: San Remo
Permits/bookings: None required.
Beginning at Punchbowl, this coastal walk heads east toward Kilcunda along cliffs that rise high above secluded beaches. Growing along the well sign-posted route are coast banksias, coast beard heath, sea box and coast tea-tree. Large Pacific gulls hover above the cliff tops, and black-shouldered kites and nankeen kestrels can be seen stalking prey in nearby farmland. Kilcunda beach, the halfway point of the walk, is a popular surfing and fishing spot. (It is recommended that you swim only in the shallows here).
