A-hunting we will go, a-hunting we will go……..It’s hunting season….
T’Gallants annual Mushroom hunts and Sunday lunch event is on again.
For the 5th year running, mushroom maestro and passionate foodie Cameron Russell, will host a series of morning walks through the valleys and vines of Main Ridge.
Hunting for wild mushrooms is a favorite past time for Cameron and many others who have grown up around pine trees and fields where these mysterious fungi grow. Be enlightened on the mysteries and mystique of the fungi Kingdom, both palatable and poisonous.
The ground will be moist and covered in moss, the weather typically Mornington Peninsula with the smell of pine needles in the air, perfect conditions for hunting and gathering wild mushrooms.
With mushroom identification sheet in hand you will scan the ground underfoot for pines, slippery jacks, Agaricus and countless species of mushroom that grow on the Mornington Peninsula.
You’ll return to T’Gallant where executive chef Nicole Koppeleman will prepare a mushroom feast. The mushroom lunch will be partnered perfectly by T’Gallant pinot gris, and pinot noir.
Pinot and mushrooms share the same flavor spectrum, refined naturally earthy flavors that can be both understated yet complex. They are a faultless combination, producing sexy, sensual flavors that leave the palate feeling alive and satisfied.
So grab a friend and come on a hunt that will educate and satisfy both palate and mind.
Sunday sessions run throughout May, with two additional sessions on the first Sunday in June.,
